Climate-Smart Agriculture for the North Central US

As part of the Soil Health Nexus Digital Cafe Series, Dr. Randy Jackson, who is an Professor of Agronomy at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, presents “Climate-Smart Agriculture for the North Central US”. This presentation was originally broadcast on Wednesday, February 23, 2022.

In his presentation, Dr. Jackson explores his recent thought experiment – Can the amount of beef currently produced in the U.S. (13 billion lbs per year) be raised on grazed perennial grassland? If so, what are the carbon footprint implications of this approach compared to the current beef feedlot system?
