Join a full-day, virtual workshop to learn how to improve communication skills from some of the best in the business. You won’t see a single pre-recorded presentation, but instead engage in a live-hosted event with Tim Hammerich, Senior Director of Strategic Communications with Cogent Consulting and Communications, and Dr. Abbey Wick, Extension Soil Health Specialist at North Dakota State University. Discussion panels and presentations will be delivered “live” using tools to engage attendees, such as chat boxes and Turning Point.
Kick off the morning with a conversation on “how to” create opportunities for discussion-based information exchange. With plenty of virtual meetings on the horizon, learning how to host successful on-line events while increasing engagement is the next topic on the list.
Evaluation is helpful when the right tool is selected to assess the program. Get introduced to identifying and prioritizing reasons behind doing an evaluation and which tools are available. We’ll wrap up the morning with discussions about engaging an audience with social media as well as on the radio, television and written media.
After a lunch break, learn how messages can be shared in new ways. Then continue the evaluation discussion and learn how to collect usable knowledge that can effectively be used to guide programming.
Connecting research and information to practical applications along with engagement in successful collaborations to reduce the stress of creating educational opportunities wrap up the workshop.

Though this event is primarily using soil health as an example for the various communication skills, information learned can be applied to any topic or discipline. This virtual event is open to anyone who would like to join, it’s not restricted to North Dakota. No registration cap.
